STUDENT TRANSCRIPTS
Student transcripts contain a variety of information. It is important for students and parents to be familiar with that information and occasionally check transcripts for errors. The student's courses are listed by the semester in which they were completed.
Grade Point Average (GPA): Four grade point averages are listed on a student's transcript. The student's GPA is listed at the end of each semester that reflects the GPA for that semester only. The other GPA's are cumulative for grades nine through twelve. The academic GPA includes only English, Math, Social Studies, Science and Foreign Language courses. The overall grade point average (OGPA) includes all courses for which a letter grade is given, including additional weight for honors, IB and AP classes. In a weighted course an A = 5, b = 4 and C = 3. No additional weight is given for a D.
The unweighted average includes all courses, with no additional computation for honors, AP or IB classes. Cumulative grade point averages are listed under the GPA Summary section of the transcript. These cumulative GPA's are used for college admission.
Credit Summary: The student's credit summary list the credits that have been completed or are deficient for high school graduation. This column does not reflect credits needed for college entrance, only for high school graduation. When graduation requirements are met in core classes, additional academic classes will be credited as electives.
Ranking: After a student's sixth semester of high school (end of their junior year) the Comment Box in the bottom left hand corner of the transcript will contain the students overall grade point average, their class rank, and the size of the graduating class. This is the only time our students are ranked. The ranking is done by percentile rankings, with 99%ile being the top of the graduating class, and 0%ile the bottom of the graduating class.
AIMS tests, as well as the computer proficiency test, will be listed in the testing information section.
Repeat Tags : Repeat tags are given when a student repeats a class for a higher grade. An “R” is placed next to the lower grade on the student's transcript, which indicates that the student repeated the class at a later date. The grade that is repeated is no longer used in calculating the student's grade point average, however it will remain on the student's transcript. Students repeat a grade because they failed a class, want to have a higher grade as a prerequisite for another class, to improve their grade point average or to strengthen skills. Credit is given if the student received a passing grade (60% or above) in a class. If a student repeats a class for which they received a “D” or better, credit is not given for the repeated class.
Other information: The student's immunization record is listed on the bottom right hand corner of their transcript. On an official transcript (which students order through www.docufide.com a signature and seal appear in the bottom right hand portion. If students need an official transcript for someone other than a college, they must pay $5 in the bookstore, and bring their receipt, along with a stamped, addressed envelope, to Mrs. Kaufmann the school registrar.
